Conservative Contemporary Design

This former 1960s ranch-style home in Greenwich, Connecticut has been transformed into an elegant modern structure and given the curb appeal it finally deserves.

Set within a lush backdrop, the home sits snugly in its surroundings, forming a perfect union between the old and the new.

At the start, the client had the idea of upgrading their home in a contemporary and almost industrial style, then slowly began to take a more conservative view on the renovation. We came to the conclusion that what their home needed was traditional elegance with a twist, hence “conservative contemporary” was born.

On the exterior, new trim was added to create an elevated impression,  giving the home the illusion of greater height. On the interior, the space was cleverly divided by the use of ceiling beams.

The interior open plan was always essential to the initial concept when remodeling the kitchen, dining room and living space.  Without being able to distinguish separate spaces, we moved up to allow the elegance of the framed ceiling to delineate the rooms.

The result is a modern contemporary home with traditional touches to add warmth and comfort.
