Our Story
We are a multi-disciplinary architecture practice founded by David Varnish, Matthew Kocyba and Stephen Taylor. At VAKOTA, our work is designed to provoke thoughtful questions of architecture and design.
We actively explore emerging technologies to create aesthetic and formal undercurrents in contemporary design. We situate this through tangible environments by offering people-oriented design solutions. We seek to generate new layers of richness in our work by perpetually challenging architecture and offering tailored solutions to the design problem at hand.
Our work spans New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. We are specialists in Manhattan and Brooklyn apartment mergers and loft renovations, and the remodelling of country retreats.
We are committed to developing and promoting architectural creativity; your passions become our own – we design without limits.
The transformation of the construction industry is ours to make.
At VAKOTA we design without limits.
Our Approach
Our designs are deliberately crafted to appeal to the primary senses; we strive to create something truly meaningful of place and experience.
We take a holistic approach to design, privileging the experiential qualities of individual buildings, whilst incorporating a technological and theoretical focus for modern living. This is a major contributing factor in our continued success when collaborating with clients.
We begin each design by evaluating the project in its entirety, as well as carefully examining each individual component. This process provides us with an unparalleled understanding of the client’s goals from multiple perspectives.
At VAKOTA, we thrive on problem solving; offering design solutions to complex challenges enables us to be precise, and the glory of our buildings lies in the perfection of details and the excellence of the materials we select.
